Paul Brown
Paul Brown is an award-winning writer, director and producer, having worked in film and television for over twenty years. He has produced over a hundred hours of network television drama, pilots, and television movies, working on such series at The X-Files, Quantum Leap, Twilight Zone, Star Trek Voyager and Enterprise. He has written in numerous genres, including romantic comedies, historical war epics, murder mysteries, true crime, supernatural thrillers, and science fiction. With over thirty produced scripts, he has received three Emmy nominations, as well as winning the prestigious Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America. He also received the Ark Trust’s Genesis Award for animal rights. He has just completed writing a Camp Rock, starring the Jonas Brothers, for Disney.
Most recently, his work has taken him around the world to develop quality feature film projects. For Terence Chang and John Woo’s City Of Dragons, he traveled to Hong Kong and Australia to interview Grandmaster William Cheung – Bruce Lee’s best friend and senior Kung Fu instructor in Hong Kong in the 1950s. He adapted Cheung’s story about the untold rise of Bruce Lee; from child actor, to one of the fiercest fighters on the streets of Hong Kong. For Man Of Two Worlds, he traveled to Durban and Capetown to adapt the story of a sixty-year friendship of a white man and his black servant in Apartheid South Africa. His work has also taken him to the French Riviera for the romantic comedy, Enchante, as well as to Nagasaki, Japan for the coming-of-age drama, Silk Letters. Paul is currently adapting the autobiographical novel, Diamond In The Rough, the story of an Italian-American soldier who gets severely wounded in the Korean War. When the soldier returns home and is unable to find work, he faces his greatest battle by fighting the Mafia’s attempts to lure him into their dark world.
As a director and acting coach, he has trained with Larry Moss, Roy London, and Uta Hagen. A graduate of University of California, Berkeley, Paul Brown was Phi Beta Kappa and Valedictorian at the English Commencement.
In addition to his work in television and film, Paul Brown lectures to colleges and unversities in the Visiting Writer’s Program for the Writers Guild of America.
