New Horror/Sci-Fi
MATTHEW LAWRENCE AND SANOE LAKE JOIN DEVON SAWA IN “HUNTER’S MOON”
LOS ANGELES—September 16, 2005: Stouffer Entertainment LLC announces commencement of principal photography on its horror/sci-fi feature “Hunter’s Moon” starring Devon Sawa (Final Destination) as a man who dreams he and friends will die a horrible death at the wrath of a brutal, other-worldly creature called the “Catcher.” Discounting his nightmares as irrational fears, his friends, played by Fernanda Romero (a chart-topping BMG Latin recording artist and popular television star in Mexico), and Dan White (Barbershop, The Series), convince the man to confront his paranoia head-on at the exact place he dreads the creature lies in wait. Sanoe Lake (Blue Crush) is Andrew’s love interest, and a hard-riding off-roader with plans of opening her own motorcycle shop. Matthew Lawrence (The Hot Chick) plays a womanizer who comes along hoping to score. Additional cast include Siena Goines (Rancid), Kevin Alejandro (Inconceivable), and introducing Jennifer Howie and Ryan Judd. Casting is by Jason Wood Casting.
Says Stouffer, “We intentionally cast a diverse ensemble of characters to reflect the multi-ethnic culture we all live in.”
The “Catcher” creature design is by Jordu Schell (Alien: Resurrection), with animatronics created by Jon Dawe (Underworld) and George Bernota (Alien vs Predator). Visual Effects Supervisor is Lance Wilhoite (Ghosts of Mars).
“To succeed, a creature-feature must deliver a great monster, so we spared no expense in going to the best designers and FX creators in the business, and the result is an alien that’s scary as hell,” says Stouffer.
“Hunter’s Moon” is independently financed, and first in a slate of Stouffer Entertainment LLC horror films to be produced with budgets under $5M. Next up is “Murder House,” which begins casting early in 2006.
Mark Stouffer is writer, director, and producer of “Hunter’s Moon.” Executive producer Mark Litwak represents the project for worldwide sales. Jay Sedrish also exec produces, with Wendy Winks co-producing.
