Thesp takes a 'Stand' on Pic

Helena Bonham Carter is attached to star in romantic comedy "Stand by for Love," with Simon Wells set to direct for Euro production, financing and sales company Blue Star Movies.

The $12 million film, set to co-star Eric McCormack, is about two ex-lovers who are reunited on a flight from London to New York -- and none too happy to find themselves sitting together.

Producers are Blue Star's Pete Maggi and A Wink and a Nod Prods.' Wendy Winks. Mark Kaplan and Harriet Greenspan of Atypical Entertainment are exec producing.

Blue Star, with offices in Rome and London, has been pre-selling the movie at AFM.

Company's international sales arm also is pre-selling crime thriller "Street Light," set to star Terrence Stamp and Ron Perlman. Producers are David Burns and writer-director Nicolas van Pollandt of Eden Films. Maggi is exec producing.
