After an eight-year absence from television, the international Clio Awards' annual TV special is being revived thanks to a partnership with Dick Clark Productions Inc.
The return of the awards special is part of a new charter by Ami Brophy, who last year was named executive director of the Clio Awards, which celebrate creative excellence in advertising in more than 65 countries. The show last aired on Fox in 1997, when the Clios were purchased by VNU Business Media, parent company of The Hollywood Reporter.
The special is being shopped to networks, with an announcement expected sometime this year.
"DCPI is the ideal partner for the Clio Awards television special," Brophy said. "Their experience with (awards shows) brings an expertise to this project that is valuable."
The deal between Dick Clark Prods. and the Clio Awards was brokered by Wendy Winks of A Wink and a Nod Prods. Winks also will be an executive producer on the awards show.
The next annual Clio event is set to take place in May.
